Hi! I'm Dr. Sakeena Everett and...

Black women deserve room to grieve openly without shrinking, rushing, or explaining their pain away.

Through compassionate curiosity, education, creativity, joy, and justice, my work creates pathways forward that honor both truth and tenderness. Whether you are an educator, a community leader, or navigating your own healing journey, I blend research with practical tools to make grief visible, accessible, and culturally responsive.

Your story is welcome.
Your grief is not too much.
Healing can be transformative and liberating.

A mind shaped by research and a heart shaped by care

Rooted in my beginnings as a New Yorker and lifelong lover of stories, I’ve always been drawn to the ways we make meaning of our lives. My journey began in classrooms and communities shaped by stories of joy and resilience.

Today, my work centers how grief shapes people, especially for Black women navigating loss in spaces that often don’t hold it well. I create compassionate spaces and resources to help people find language for their experiences and to move forward with care.

You can trust me.
