Research Rooted in Racial Justice, Healing Equity, and Compassionate Humanity
My research examines the intersections of grief, identity, and power. I'm committed to understanding how these forces shape the experiences of students, educators, leaders, and communities.
Through this work, I develop frameworks and resources to support thoughtful, culturally responsive, and compassionate responses to grief, helping to foster humanizing and just learning environments.

This active project creates grief literacy curriculum for K-12 teachers and students.
Justice as Praxis in Education (Funder: The Spencer Foundation)
This 2021 research conference convened expert justice-oriented university researchers, K-12 practitioners, K-university students, and parents around theorizing justice imperatives, promoting pedagogical justice as praxis projects, and doing methodological justice.
Teaching through Coronavirus: Toward Cultivating Urgent Culturally Responsive Distance Learning Pedagogies (Funder: Maryland State Department of Education Innovative Approaches to Connecting with Students)
During the height of the pandemic, during the 2020-2021 academic school year, this project created “humanizing professional learning communities” and a yearlong humanizing professional learning development program for in-service and pre-service teachers to help them navigate the transition to required distance learning.
